The western Hunan and Hubei area have been considered to have nice prospects due to its lower Paleozoic is similar to that in Weiyuan gasfield

and has also experienced similar geologic process of early subsidence and intensive late uplifting in later stage. However

the overpressure system is no longer present in western Hunan and Hubei area

because the uplifting amplitude has been too large and the lack of favorable paleostructure controlling early hydrocarbon accumulation.Therefore

the hydrocarbon exploration in this region should be cautious

but a further exploration is required in Zigui synclinore.
