The Devonian reefs in Tangwangzhai Region are a series of reefs which consist of hummock reefs on carbonate ramp
linear hummock reefs on the rim of carbonate platform and patch reefs on carbonate platform that developed with the evolution of the carbonate platform. The reef-building organisms were mainly stromatoporoids and tabulate coral. They began to develop from the late Ganxi stage (late Emsian) till Shawozi stage(Famennian). They are characterized by small boddy size and lenticular or hummock in shape. The development and evolution of the reefs were controlled mainly by regional tectonics
