Tarim Basin is a large, superimposed basin which had a long evolutional history. The evolution can be divided into seven stages, three tectonic cycles of the Proterozoic,Paleozoic and Meso-Cenozioc.Eight prototype basins were superimposed and formed in the central and marginal areas of the basin:Middle Proterozoic-Paleozoic half-graben rift basin, passive continental marginal basin,back-arc fore-land basin, epicontinental sea basin and Meso-Cenozoic back-arc foreland basin, collided foreland basin and reactived collided piedmont basin.Eight hydrocarbon-bearing formations of marine, continental, marine-continental alternative facies(Pt2-Pt3,ε-O,S-D,C-P,T-J,K2-E,N1)were deposited. The basin can be divided into eight structure-depression superim posed regions such as central back arc rift-depressed region, northwest passive continental margin-collided foreland depressed region, north pas-sive continental margin-collided foreland-collided piedmont-collided reactive piedmont depredssed re-gion,northeast passive continental margin-collided foreland depressed region;southeast and southwestback arc foreland-collided piedmont-collided reactived piedmont depressed regions;the collided de-pressed regions of the east and west ends.Four depressed belts, thirteen fault-uplifted and overthrust-folded belts formed in the former six depressed regions. The Tarim Basin is rich in hydrocarbon re-sources and central rift depressed region is especially the first order oil potential area.It is estimatedthat it has the largest potential reserves among the basins in China. In addition, there is geological condi-tion to form inorganic gas reservoirs in the deep of the basin.Five kinds of roof-like,superimposed 3-D hydrocarbon resources are formed in the basin and enriched hydrocarbon zones are as many as 10.These zones are the targets for seaking big, huge even super oil and gas fields.

The recongnization of this paper is based upon the geological and geophysical studies of the China seas and their adjacent regions in the past 30 years. The China mainland was developed from some continental cores existing in Pantha lassa and unit-ed as a whole in the Late Paleozoic. The tectonic evolution of the China seas is closely related to the in-teractions among Eurasia,Pacific and Indian oceanic lithosphere plates. It can be divided into 5 stages:1)An ∈,the continental cores formed and developed into blocks or cratons;2)Pz,blocks gradually united as a whole;3)T3-K1,the China mainland was strongly compressed and remaked;4)K2-E2,the margins of plates converged and the interior of the eastern part of Eurasian plate spreaded;5)After E33,the subduction occurred at the margin of Eurasian plate and its interior was widely subsided, and formed today's feature of the China seas.

After making a study of conchostracan fossils taken from the half way between Trong and Krabi on the southern Thailand of Malaya Penisula, the deposits bearing this fauna are thought to be Middle.Jurassic inage. Thus,it is most probably that there are two conchostracan levels found within Thailand so far.One be-longs to middle Upper Triassic by Kobayashi, and the other is ours of Middle Jurassic.

The fractured gas reservoirs in east Sichuan,no matter they are anticline traped ones or structural fracture pinch traped ones, are all controlled by tectonic deformation. The hydrocarbon enrichment is closely ralated to Himalayan tectonic evolution. The tectonic evolution of the present region in Himalayan orogen has always been disputed, and the division of formation stages differs from each other. Therefore, the evolution in hydrocarbon-bearing structurs may also be different. In application of structural geometric and directional filter analysis, the structures can be divided into four fold sys-tems in this paper according to the folds strikes, the dipping direction of pivots, the closure,cross-sectionpattern,amplitude and depth of folds as well as the configuration on sterographic projection map. Then the evolution of these folds is divided into four generation based on the alternative relationship of big and medium sized folds and the displaced fabric type of the pivots of small sized folds. The distribution and superim position of the fold systems in south, north and central blocks differ greatly from each other due to the control of two northwest strike basement rifts.Through rebuilding tectonic evolution history, the authors consider that, traps formed earlier havethe priority to trap oil and higher enrichment, conversely, the enrichment may low;synclines that up-lifted higher in amplitude and emerged older in strata may have poor preservation condition, otherwise, the condition may good.Exploration in this area has proved that the ratio of success can reach 75% for the wells located according to the above mentioned.

According to the processing and analysing of aeromagnetic and gravity data of Longmen Moun-tains thrust belt and its adjacent areas, the magnetic field of this region could be divided into fourzones:Sichuan Basin high magnetic anomaly zone,Longmen Mountains magnetic anomaly steep-chang-ing zone,Pingwu-Lixian negative magnetic anomaly maximum zone,Hongyuan-Maerkang low magne-tic anomaly zone.Regional gravity fields are divided into three zones. The authors pointed out that the one of Longmen Mountains is a positive harmonious anomaly zone.In application of electromagnetic sounding and deep seismic data accosiated with geological analysis, the crust structure horizontally could be divided into four regions(the sima gentle region of west Sichuan Basin, the sima slope region of Longmen Mountains, the sima depressed region of Songpan-Heishui and the sima gentle region of Ruerga-Hongyuan-Aba rigion)and the upper mantle structure into three regions(the mantle gentleslope region of west Sichuan Basin, the mantle steep slope zone of Longmen Mountains and the mantlegentle slope region of Songpan-Ganzi);the lithosphere texture into four layers in vertical(upper crustlayer, lower crust layer, upper mantle cover and the layer underlying the asthenosphere). The paper has revealed the feature of the lithosphere in Longmen Mountains thrust belt and laid afoundation for the studying the mechanism of this thrust belt.

Turbidity current deposits were developed widely in Nanpanjiang Basin during the Middle Trias-sic.The sedimentary model is submarine fan. This is based mainly on that:1.They have the character-istics of turbidity current deposits.2.They have obvious channel deposits.3.The sequences of the tur-bidity are prograding turbidite fan in the texture profile. The sedimentary model of the turbidity current deposits in the area is not only submarine fan,but several fans with multi-source.

Geology of petroliferous basins is a new course proposed by the authors to establish. The present-day research in petroleum geology and the oil and gas prospecting have proved that the sedimentary basins are the foundation units in which oil and gas generate, migrate and accumulate. It has also been proved that to study oil and gas generation, migration, reservoirs, traps, and cap rocks in a basin isolated-ly,and to describe and classify oil and gas accumulation simply can not meet the need of hydrocarbon prospecting. So it is necessary to regard the study of the geology of petroliferous basins as a systematic engineering that all kind of factors are connected with each other. This systematic engineering may be divided into several subsystems as follows:1.Background sys-tem.2.Evolution and deformation system.3.Sedimentary system.4.Hydrodynamic system.5.Thermaisystem.6.Oil and gas system.7.Reformation system. At last, all the achievements in researchof the above subsystems will be synthesized and summarized.Only in this way,the systematic engineer-ing of the petroliferous basins can be a complete system.
