Abstract:

Fuping region on the southern margin of the Ordos Basin was a distinct carbonate depositional slope in the Middle Ordovician. The characters are:1. It contains carbonate gravitational flow deposition which is the special of slope zone:2. The typical structures of slope deposition, such as rollover structure, truncated structure, rub-fold structure and slide-fold structure, well developed; 3. Though palaeoslope fossils are not rich enough In the present area,deep-water ichnofossils and microfossils developed well. 4. Trace elements as V.Ni.Sr. and Ba.show high content in the rocks; 5. The trend of the slope ranges from 128-177?, ichnofacies belong to Zoophycus and Nereites. This indicates that the water depth of the slope varied from 200 to 2000m, the average rate of sedimentation might be 318mm/1000 yrs.
