Abstract:

According to high resolution geophysical data inthe 3.5 kHz subbottom profile and single-channel seismic reflection, the Quaternary in the Pearl River mouth shelf can be di-vided into four main sedimentary facies and one special deposit body:fluvial facies, deltaic facies, shallow sea facies, tidal current-bayou facies and sand dune-sand wave deposits. These different sedimentary facies are sedimentary systems that formed in low water level, high water level of different periods and transgressive or regressive conditions con-trolled by regional eustasy during Pleistocene-Holocene.
