Abstract:
The recongnization of this paper is based upon the geological and geophysical studies of the China seas and their adjacent regions in the past 30 years. The China mainland was developed from some continental cores existing in Pantha lassa and unit-ed as a whole in the Late Paleozoic. The tectonic evolution of the China seas is closely related to the in-teractions among Eurasia,Pacific and Indian oceanic lithosphere plates. It can be divided into 5 stages:1)An ∈,the continental cores formed and developed into blocks or cratons;2)Pz,blocks gradually united as a whole;3)T3-K1,the China mainland was strongly compressed and remaked;4)K2-E2,the margins of plates converged and the interior of the eastern part of Eurasian plate spreaded;5)After E33,the subduction occurred at the margin of Eurasian plate and its interior was widely subsided, and formed today's feature of the China seas.
