Ordos basin, located in the connected part of the western active belt and easternstable region of China, has gone through many episcdes of tectonic movements. The platform and geosyncline regimes of Ordos in earlier Paleozoic period were incorporated as a whole by Caledonian orogenic movement, and then uplifted and unified with North Chian platform in later Paleozoic. During Mesozoic, it gradually developed into an extensive intracontinental depression but uplifted again in Cenozoic with Hetao, Yinchuan, Lupanshan and Fenwei subbasins formed atound.

Recently, the black sandstone in the 2nd member of Wengxiang group(S1-2wn2)in Majiang,Duyun,Dangzhai and Kaili regions in eastern Gui-zhou was studied by detailed field survey and a lot of laboratory tests, and was discoverde no other than bituminous sandstone. The bitumen, with which the pore spaces between asnd grains are filled, is a variation of petroleum.

287 water samples were selected from Fuyu reservoir in southern part of Song-liao basin.Their data were processed by means of discriminant analysis. For this part of the basin,8 formulas of discriminant function and isograms of synthetic discriminant value R are given. Benzene and organic acid were determined with 50 water samples respectively, and threshold for waters from reservoir and nonreservoir are confined.

Songliao basin has undergone tectonic uplift at the end of Qinshankou during earlier Cretaceous. The changes in stratigraphic thickness, the erosion and weathering surfaces as well as absence of paleentolagical zones reveal that various types of contacts such as conformity, disnonfatmily and uncnnfoxmity, exist in the area between Qinshankou and Yaojia Foxmalions. The Putachua reservoir was formed under the influence of the extent of erosnon zones, which has resulted in the formation of impartant sedimentary fades, such as Proluvial fens and fan deltas etc. The development of great quantitirs of these facies sueely could enhance the availability of lithological traps and consequently shouid giver rise to more prospective areas for petroleum. The existence of odap zones in the west part of this basin favors the discovering of new reservoirs of unconformit type.

There is a great deal of transitional facies developed between continents and seas during Eogene in China.Due to tectonic and geographic controls, these facies distributed from marine to continent in order of seashore facies, transgressed lacustrine facies and inflowed lacustrine facies, showing a semivircular belt of NE trend in eastern China and NW trend in western China.

The perylene of some samples from certain basins of China is examed by means of GC/MS/computer system. The perylene fractions, which contain mainly the compounds of molecular weight 252,and are devoid of those less than 252, were separated from the sample exiracts by means of column chromatograpny and thin layer chromatography. Mass spectrogram of the perylene isolated by glass capillary gas chromatography in our researchs are identical with the standard one.

Middle Ordovician sediments locally occurred at the western and southern margins of Ordos platform and are represented by sand-shale facies and carbonates respectively. They are formed in Qilian-Qinling marine trough and Weibei carbonate platform is line with comprehensive analysts of simple-factor based diagrams, facies sequence and charaetus of paleobiota of individual atratigraphical column. Weibei carbonatc platform has correspondingly been subdivided into backbeach Iagoonal zone, shallow-water beach zone and forebeach seaward-sloping Zone.

In 1979,we suggested that pliocene-pleistocene boundary in Beijing plain, based on the results of seismological and geological research, may be placed between the Pliocene Shunyi Formation and the Pleistocene Xiadian Formation, deter about 2.43 m.y.B.P. Since then, we have studied more cores, measured their CaCO3 content and thermolumlnescene; Micratektltes from the Zhnili Formation, insecte fossils of Diptera from the Xiadan Formation of well No,l in Shunyi have also been discovered. These are sound evidurces for the subdivision of Quaternary and the determination of its lower boundary in this area.

Basic principles and methods are briefly descussed for determining abnor-mal formation pressure and the depth at which it might accur in considerationof the peculiarity of prospecting.Herein seismic seismic prediction before drilling, dc-index detecting in the courae of drilling and well-logging evaluation after drilling etc. are induded. This paper emphasizes on the determining of averpressure strata on the basis of the relationship of sonic transmission time (Δt) versus depth in axgillaceous rocks, and the quick estimating the value of abnormal formation pressate by means of equivalent stress. Finally, an example of a well section cutting through sandstone and mudstone of Tertiary system is given.

There were three explanations about the geological structures of Maoshan.First, accustomed saying,Maoshan including the most southern area of Anhui and Ji-angsu was the main range of the foldings formed in Indo-China movement; second, by geomechanics, Maoshan waa considered as a combination of several diffuent struetural systems, the north-south axis of Ningzhen Mt. reflexed are, and too, to be unrooted; third, recently, geologists working in plate-tectonic field emphasized the "listric fault" formed by stresses wmprrssed from cast to west in southun China, and thus Maashan was one of the nappes.
