Abstract:

Tectonic stress plays an important role in the process of oil-gas pool formation and distribution. On one hand, tectonic stress produces mechanical energy and strength chemical action which improve the thermal degredation of kerogen and oil generation;on the other hand, tectonic stress can influence the fluid potential which results in oil and gas migration from higher potential zone to lower potential zone.In addition, the stress also produces tectonic traps for oil and gas accumulation and enrichment and controlls their distribution.

Key words: tectonic stress, oil-gas generation, fluid potential, oil-gas migration, oil-gas pool distribution
