Abstract:

The southwest foreland basins in Tarim Basin is composed of Paleozoic basins and the Meso-Cenozoic foreland basins. The basin is in dust-pan shape uplifted northward. The basin possesses multi-set of source rocks, multi reservoir-cap rock assemblage and various trap types. The hydrocarbon resources amount is about 6 billion tons calculated by different methods in different exploration stages. The strategy for further exploration of the basin is that the piedmont structure of Kunlun Mountains should be drilled and tested, geological survey should be made in Maigaiti slope so as to find traps,to study hydrocarbon migration and accumulation model in the transitional faulted belt between the slope and Bachu Uplift.
